5th International Asparagus Cultivar Trial (IACT V)

On July 4, 2026, the Report Session of the 16th World Asparagus Congress and the domestic launch ceremony of the monograph Asparagus: A New Chapter in the Industry of Medicine and Edible Sources were grandly held in Jinan, Shandong Province. The event was hosted by the Nutritional Medicine Branch of the China Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine Research and Development. Qiao Dejing, Chairman of the Nutritional Medicine Branch of the China Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine Research and Development and President of Shandong Jinxiuchuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

At the launch ceremony, Dr. Chen Guangyu delivered an insightful academic report, elaborating on his participation in the 16th World Asparagus Congress held in South Korea and the global debut of the monograph Asparagus: A New Chapter in the Industry of Medicine and Edible Sources. With over 30 years of in-depth research on asparagus science and technology, Dr. Chen led and completed the world’s first international cooperation project on the asparagus genome initiative, and guided his team to build the world’s exclusive professional R&D system for asparagus.

Global Debut Highlights Chinese Wisdom on the World Stage

Held once every four years, the World Asparagus Congress is hailed as the "Olympics of the global asparagus industry" and represents the world’s top-tier academic event in the field. Dr. Chen Guangyu delivered a keynote speech titled Asparagus Big Health Industry in China at the conference. The global launch of the monograph Asparagus: A New Chapter in the Industry of Medicine and Edible Sources was officially unveiled during the congress, with promotional materials released simultaneously in Chinese, English and Korean languages.

Spanning from the global academic stage to domestic industrial practice, this 300,000-word Chinese-English bilingual monograph not only fills the global academic gap in systematic research on the food-medicine homology of asparagus, but also marks a new era for the high-quality development of China’s full asparagus industrial chain empowered by original traditional Chinese medicine theories. The book systematically sorts out the whole industrial chain development path of asparagus, evolving from a traditional Chinese medicinal herb to a modern big-health product. It promotes the ancient Chinese wisdom of "food-medicine homology" to the world in a scientific and systematic manner, forming a distinctive Chinese solution for the transformation and upgrading of the global asparagus industry. Dr. Chen Guangyu also signed and presented books to experts from various countries and took group photos with them at the conference.
